I am not a doctor. I will never be a doctor. I am not a mental health professional. Though I love to learn, I do not ever wish to return to school for any more advanced degrees.
My professional qualifications are:
I am a certified teacher of math and science. I have taught high school level sexual education as well.
I have bachelors degrees in chemistry and physics, and a masters of chemical engineering.
I am an abortion doula trained by the now defunct Boston Doula Project.
I have many years’ experience holding space for grief as mod and admin at Ending a Wanted Pregnancy since 2012 (when it was called “A Heartbreaking Choice.”)
I was certified in Layla Martin’s VITA coaching certification program in December 2021, specializing in (1) Life transitions (including abortion and pregnancy loss) and (2) Relationship Transformation (which qualifies me to work with couples in the VITA methods).
I was certified as a Women’s Pelvic Health Coach from Dagmar Kahn’s Flourish Institute in 2022.
I keep up to date on advancements in modalities of trauma healing, some of which coaches may legally guide (IFS, MBSR, Self-Havening) and some of which coaches can not use (EMDR) and I will not touch.
I am not qualified to diagnose physical or mental health problems, nor to treat them. If I suspect you might benefit from a doctor or a mental health professional, I will absolutely suggest that you see one, but ultimately your responsibility for your own physical and mental health falls on you. Please do not mistake my work for a replacement for qualified medical advice. If you ever DO need a doctor or a mental health specialist, by all means, coaching can complement this work, but it is no replacement.
